The 2024 Southern Regional Conference for Learning in Retirement (SRCLR), held in beautiful Lexington, Kentucky, was a great success. We hosted 140+ attendees from 66 different LLIs (Lifelong Learning Institutes) across 25 states. From wonderful keynotes presented by established Lexingtonians to a plethora of breakout sessions on a wide variety of topics, attendees got to learn about different Lexington industries (bourbon, equine, research on aging at UK) and then take part in idea-sharing opportunities with lifelong learning and continuing education industry professionals. We thank all who attended, and also would like to thank our terrific sponsors: Road Scholar, Collette, Campus CE, Osher National Resource Center, Premier World Discovery, Vivo, and VisitLEX.

Access to lifelong learning opportunities has become an increasingly important factor in retirement location decisions. Lifelong learning institutes provide valuable opportunities for participants to learn new information and skills. They also support important opportunities that foster new connections and promote physical and mental well-being.

For nearly 20 years, the SRCLR has been an incredible professional development opportunity for staff and volunteer leaders in the field of lifelong learning. This conference is one of the few networking and idea-sharing opportunities for the lifelong learning field and draws more than 200 participants from around the country annually.

Conference breakout sessions and roundtable discussions address best practices in curriculum development, member relations, marketing and communication, fundraising, volunteer management, travel, technology, and more.
