Get More Out of Your Mac

You probably use your Mac every day but you’re probably not getting the most out of your computer. This course will teach you techniques you can use to be more effective. Topics range from organizing files in a folder to suit you better to keyboard shortcuts to customizing your Dock. Tips provided in this course will save you time and make your computer use more enjoyable.

 

Getting the Most Out of Your iPad

Learn how to use the built-in Apple apps on your iPad. Personalize and organize your apps, take better photos, and organize them. Acquire information about settings, learn the secrets of the keyboard, emailing, and texting with animation. Get tips on using the Calendar, Notes, Reminders, and Books. Face-time will be included if time permits. Participants should make sure their iPad is updated with the latest operating system and have their Apple ID and password accessible. 

Students should have a different device (like a computer, laptop, or smartphone) to log into the Zoom class to be able to practice the instructions on their iPad.

 

Getting the Most Out of Your iPhone

Learn important (and hidden) functions of your iPhone. Learn how to download apps, move them, nest them and delete them. Learn how to get better photos with your phone, organize your pictures, and send them in text and emails. Texting messages and using Siri will also be covered along with lots more. Participants should know their iPhone’s passcode, Apple ID, and password. Participants should make sure their iPhone is updated with the latest operating system (IOS). Students should have a different device (like a computer, laptop, or iPad) to log into the ZOOM class to be able to practice the instructions on their iPhone.

 

Introduction to Infrared Photography

Infrared photography is gaining in popularity all over the world. Your camera with an Infrared filter is all you need to begin photographing Infrared pictures. This filter blocks all light wavelengths except infrared, making sure only infrared light reaches the sensor. The instructors will demonstrate how to check your camera to see if it will work with a filter. Infrared can be photographed as B&W or color. Students will learn where to send their camera to have an Infrared conversion for B&W or color.

 

iPhone Advanced Workshop

In this workshop we will build on iPhone techniques that students learned in “Getting the Most out of your iPhone” and “Secrets of your iPhone”.  After taking one or both sessions, many students have asked for more!  This is it!  Group text and e-mail messages, verifying backup, working with your photos, cleaning up bursts, scanning documents, blocking calls, and silencing unknown callers, get your phone to read to you, and lots more will be demonstrated.

 

Is Windows 10 Driving You Crazy?

In this Workshop, students will learn how they can change the Start Window to make it less confusing. Also, they will learn how to change the appearance of File Explorer. A free program will be demonstrated that will change the Start Window making it look like the Windows 7 or XP Start Window.

 

Learning to See Creatively in Photography

Learn the ingredients for a good photo. We will study the elements of design, perspective, composition, lighting, and color of light. Why are some pictures more appealing than others? They follow some simple rules: A. Simplicity. B. Drawing Attention to the Subject. C. Positioning the Subject. D. Knowledge of Graphic Design for Interest and Harmony. Understanding and using these guidelines will show you how to implement this knowledge and become a better photographer. Instruction will consist of lecture, class discussion & video presentations. Homework assignments will be emailed to the instructor and will be critiqued by the entire class. This class will be taught via Zoom, so students will need a computer with audio and a camera with a fully charged battery.

 

Making Personal Note and Greeting Cards Using Microsoft Word

Note cards and greeting cards can be expensive. Learn to make your own personalized note and greeting cards using your own photos or resources from the Internet. Learn to set up templates that can be used over and over. This is not only a fun workshop, it’s a money-saver. Think creative and personal Christmas, birthday, and other cards. It’s a win-win. Sign into the session on your smart phone and set it next to your computer so you can practice what we are doing in real time.

 

Organizing Personal Computer Files in Windows 10

Learn the correct way to file items on your personal computer. Learn nifty tricks for moving files and folders and organizing these files and folders so they can easily be found on your personal computers or external storage devices. This is a hands-on class. If possible, to get the most out of the lessons, access the Zoom session via your smart phone or tablet and set it next to your computer so you can practice the lesson activities in real time.

 

Understanding Facebook on Windows PC

This workshop will teach students about maintaining a Facebook Page on a Windows PC, including how to find friends; and how to make, edit and respond to posts. The profile and home page will be explained. Students will also learn about checking privacy settings, unfriending, blocking friends, as well as deleting and deactivating their account. 

 

Using Your iPhone Camera to the Max
