How to Critique Your Own Painting

Dates and Times: Tuesdays, September 8 – December 1,

Location: Online Zoom Course

Maximum Enrollment: 75 |  Course Fee: $50

Each class will begin with a short (approximately 15 min) lecture to introduce the specific topic of the day. Some of the topics to be covered are: hard vs soft edges, intense vs muted colors, best placement of the focal point, reflections in water, and the color of shadows. Following the lecture, the instructor will be available for follow up discussion, questions, or class critique of any art that students have an interest in. Finally, in the remainder of the class (usually about 1.5 hour) the instructor will demonstrate a painting technique related to the topic of the day. Students may watch the demonstration, paint along with the demonstration, or work on any personal project they wish.

 

Introduction to Painting with Oils and Acrylics

(No Class October 6, November 3 & 24), 1 – 3 p.m.

Maximum Enrollment: 75 |  Course Fee: $50

The course will consist of 10, two hour sessions. A new, and different painting will be completed in each session. The instructor will demonstrate the individual steps needed to complete each painting, as students follow along to complete their own version. Students may use either oils or acrylics, depending on their preference. Each painting will incorporate artistic principles and techniques.
